SENBO Resort Hotel

Designer: WJD Design

Location: Wuhan, China

Award: A' Design Award 2025–2026 Platinum Prize

Category: Resort Hotel

Design Inspiration

Senbo Resort Hotel stands out for its in-depth interpretation of local regional culture and refined understanding of modern resort hospitality. Moving away from stereotyped cookie-cutter resort layouts, WJD Design extracts the area’s distinctive landforms and folk customs as the core design thread. Architecture and interior are no longer separated entities but engage in profound dialogue with surrounding nature, delivering guests an immersive escape from hustle and bustle to find inner peace.

Spatial Highlights

  1. Oversized picture windows and semi-outdoor layouts draw panoramic natural scenery deep into interior spaces.
  2. Public areas feature bold, open architectural styling to deliver expansive, uplifting spatial ambience.
  3. Curated circulation paths create a sense of discovery, resembling a miniature contemporary Chinese garden laid out indoors.

Materials & Palette

The design extensively uses locally sourced raw stone and natural timber with organic imperfections and rugged textures to retain the raw vitality of natural materials. Anchored by muted earth tones with scattered pops of natural accent hues, the palette embodies sophisticated wabi-sabi aesthetics of understated rustic elegance.
